Amina is a Pan-African lifestyle brand that marries Ethiopian traditions and design with vibrant and elegant elements from across the Continent. The art of weaving has been an integral part of Ethiopian civilization for nearly two thousand years and Ethiopian cotton is some of the finest in the world.
Handspun cotton blankets (gabis) are the anchor of our work. From cold mornings to funerals, or given as a gift at weddings and births, gabis are symbolic of our people’s strength and beauty, woven together time after time, and thread by thread. We design across materials including brass, leather and glass, sourcing directly from master artisans in Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Senegal and Tanzania.
Like our beloved great-grandmother Amina, everything we make is one-of-a-kind. Though her life was short, her story lives in our imagination and the work of our hands.
Everything we sell is handmade in Africa. Handmade means small batches crafted by master artisans, unique pieces and limited quantities. We do not compete on price, and we are not trying to.
